Bills knew of horrifying allegation against Matt Araiza last month

This is a terrible look for the Bills and NFL.

Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza, who has earned the nickname of the “Punt God,” is being accused along with two other former San Diego State University football players of gang-raping a 17 year old girl last year during an off-campus party in a civil suit that was filed yesterday.

And according to another recently released report, the Bills were aware of the allegations against Araiza a month ago, and he was still allowed to participate in Training Camp.

"We were recently made aware of a civil complaint involving Matt from October 2021," the Bills said in a statement on Thursday, obtained by NFL Network's Mike Giardi. "Due to the serious nature of the complaint, we conducted a thorough examination of this matter. As this is an ongoing civil case, we will have no other comment at this point."

This is a serious black eye not only on the NFL, who continues to deal with the fallout of the Deshaun Watson situation, but for the Bills who knew of these allegations for weeks and still allowed Araiza to compete for a spot on the team.
