A three-game suspension didn't keep the Cincinnati Bengals from showing Vontaze Burfict the money.

The Bengals are giving the former All-Pro linebacler, the centerpiece of their pass rush, a healthy new contract.

Per NFL.comBurfict and the Bengals have agreed on a three-year, $38.68 million contract extension, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Thursday. The deal includes a $3.3 million signing bonus and he'll also receive an additional $7 million this season.

Burfict's new deal comes amid a three-game suspension until October 1 against the Cleveland Browns, in Week 4. His suspension came from a hit he put on Kansas City Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman during a preseason game last month. It was reduced from five to three games on appeal.

Over five NFL seasons, Burfict has registered 502 tackles, seven sacks and five interceptions. He made both Second Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl in 2013.

While at Arizona State, Burfict became part of one of the most legendary college football photographs, one in which he appears to terrifyingly threaten USC quarterback Matt Barkley.
