The Dallas Cowboys have acquired veteran cornerback Bene Benwikere from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Benwikere was formerly the starting nickel cornerback in Carolina.

The move gives Dallas some much-needed depth in the secondary, where Benwikere will join a cast of characters led by Orlando ScandrickNolan Carroll and Anthony Brown.

The 25-year-old Benwikere can play on the outside, but also has experience in the slot, giving the Cowboys a dash of versatility in an area of need. He's hardly a savior, though, having spent time with the DolphinsPackers and Bengals since being waived by the Panthers last October.

Per ESPN, Benwikere has two interceptions in his career, spending his first three seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers last season before signing with Cincinnati in the offseason.

With rookies Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis coming back from hamstring strains, Benwikere offers depth to the Cowboys' secondary.

This is the 149th trade the Cowboys have pulled off since Jones took over in 1989.
