The Dallas Cowboys have officially cut receiver Lucky Whitehead after having been informed that the latter had failed to appear at his court hearing.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport commented on the issue:
"Dallas Cowboys want to send a message and for them hopefully cut down on some of the locker room drama and maybe move on and talk about football after everyone spent the entire day talking about Lucky Whitehead and whether or not he did in fact commit petty larceny."
Whitehead had been arrested earlier this summer for petty larceny and was charged $200, with the obligation to appear in court on July 6. An obligation he ended up not respecting.
Questioned on the issue earlier today, coach Garrett was adamant that such actions could cost the player his spot on the roster, but that was before the information regarding his absence in court started surfacing.
