A young football player died yesterday, from injuries he suffered while making a tackle on Saturday. The victim is Robert Grays, a 19-year-old cornerback from Midwestern State University.
As we can read on ESPN, " Grays was injured with about 3½ minutes to go in the Mustangs' 35-13 home win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in Wichita Falls, Texas. Midwestern State athletics department spokesman Trey Reed told ESPN that Grays was hospitalized in Wichita Falls on Saturday night and then flown to a hospital in Houston, where he died Tuesday. "
MSU assistant coach Donte Ellington reacted to this sad news on Twitter, earlier today:
He registered 24 tackles and two passes defended last year, and 10 tackles in two games this season.
Our thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends of the young man.
