Earlier this week, we had reported that the Green Bay Packers had invited free agent Ahmad Brooks for a practice run during training camp. It appears that his stint with the organization may be prolonged.
Reports are coming in that the former Pro Bowler has reached a contractual agreement with the Packers organization:
Brooks, 33, was named to the 2013 Pro Bowl, and was a second-team All-Pro in 2012 and 2013. He has played 133 games in the NFL, with career totals of 290 tackles, 370 combined, 53.5 sacks, 30 pass deflections, 3 interceptions and 1 touchdown. Last season he played all 16 games with the 49ers, making 41 tackles, 53 combined, and sacking opposing quarterbacks 6 times.
Primarily an Outside Linebacker, he could prove to be a great asset for the Packers who are having problems on the edge following the injuries to startes Clay Matthews and Nick Perry.
On the downside, Brooks is presently entangled in an active criminal case for misdemeanor sexual battery. Although he has plead not guilty to the charge, if he were to be condemned he could be facing a maximum sentence of six months in prison.
