The Seattle Seahawks were penalized by the NFL for violating an NFL / NFL Players Association rule that prohibits excessive contact from all offseason workouts according to NFL.com
The team will be fined $400,000, will lose the first week of 2017 organized activities and forfait its fifth-round selection in the 2017 draft. Head coach Pete Carroll will also be fined $200,000.
According to Carroll, the violation came when two helmet-less players "banged heads and got injured" during OTAs.
This isn't the first time the Seahawks are in trouble for such a violation. Back in 2014, they had to pay a $300,000 fine. They also lost OTA sessions in 2012 for a similar offense.
