The San Francisco 49ers were meant to be picking second overall in the draft, but instead they orchestrated a brilliant trade to collect a huge number of picks.
The 49ers trade the second overall pick in the draft to the Chicago Bears who moved up just one spot but have up a king's ransom in terms of picks. Here is what the 49ers acquired from the Bears:
'17 1st Round Pick (#3)'17 3rd Round Pick (#67)
'17 4th Round Pick (#111)'18 3rd Round Pick
The 49ers followed that up by drafting Solomon Thomas a man that many had going to the 49ers at #2, effectively meaning that the 49ers may have pulled off a massive steal as far as they are concerned in this draft.
Solomon Thomas who is out of Stanford is a defensive end who has made a name for himself as a premier pass rusher, and that is what the 49ers hope he can become in the NFL.
