Denver Broncos superstar linebacker Von Miller had some glowing words for quarterback Trevor Siemian Wednesday. The 2015 undrafted free agent won the Broncos’ starting job for the second straight summer.
Miller said on PFT Live that he thinksis playing like Peyton Manning, whom Siemian backed up when the Broncos won the Super Bowl in the 2015 season.
Per NBC Sports:
“We’ve been saying it for a long time, we said it last year,” Miller said. “Him seeing the way it’s done, he just has that Peyton Manning vibe — he kind of looks like Peyton Manning too. It’s great to have that energy from Trevor in the locker room and on the football field. I trust him in everything, our whole organization trusts him. He’s looking 10 times better than he did last year and he did a lot of great stuff for us last year.”
Denver’s offense improved along the trenches during the offseason. The Broncos signed veteran tackle Menelik Watson and guard Ronald Leary and invested their first-round pick in offensive tackle Garret Bolles. That improvement along the offensive line could help Siemian, who was sacked 31 times last season.
"Siemian went 8-6 and threw for 3,401 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 14 starts last season. Denver’s offense hit a lull down the stretch and scored fewer than 10 points in three of the final four games. The Broncos went from Super Bowl champions to postseason bystanders mainly thanks to their mediocre offense.
"Denver still has plenty of weapons in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders and C.J. Anderson will likely lead the running game. If Miller’s projection is even close to correct, Siemian could be in store for a breakout campaign."
