Cam Heyward furious at Steelers appearance on “Hard Knocks”
The Steelers defensive anchor isn't happy about the upcoming appearance on the yearly documentary!
Two years ago, it was the Detroit Lions. Last year, it was the New York Jets. And this year marks the first appearance by the Pittsburgh Steelers on the HBO reality series "Hard Knocks"; they'll be the focus along with their division rivals Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns.
But while fans have expressed excitement to catch a glimpse of exclusive being the scenes action, one member of the team who is outright displeased about the upcoming appearance is defensive anchor Cam Heyward. In his mind, what happens in the Steelers locker room ought to stay there and could be viewed differently without proper context.
"I hated it. I don’t want to be on this," Heyward said on a recent episode of his podcast, Not Just Football.
"The locker room is the locker room, and I just don’t want that getting messed up. There’s so many inside jokes, so many people. There’s so many people, like, you would assume everybody’s a jerk if you heard everything," Heyward said. "But it comes from a loving place, and it comes from a caring place. We all want to be better, and we joke a lot. We poke and prod at each other, but it doesn’t always come off that way. And so, that’s the only thing I really worry about.”
The defensive lineman has been in a contract standoff with the Steelers, hoping to land a more lucrative deal despite being 35 years of age and not as explosive as he once was.
