The Pittsburgh Steelers are set at the quarterback position with Kenny Pickett under center for the foreseeable future. And despite the maligned Matt Canada still in his role as offensive coordinator, the team remains confident in their young quarterback.
But if analyst Colin Cowherd had his way, the Steelers would have a new quarterback next season in the form of USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who is projected to be a top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. And just who would Cowherd suggest the Steelers surrender in order to acquire that first overall selection?
“If I'm Pittsburgh, I would give up [T.J] Watt, three firsts, and [George] Pickens for Caleb Williams,” Cowherd said during his Friday episode of "The Herd".
Yeah, that's absolutely not going to happen.
As you may remember, Cowherd has taken Pickett to task for what he sees as a lack of ability to become one of the greats in Steelers history like his predecessor in Ben Roethlisberger.
“Kenny Pickett appeared to regress, more frenetic, I thought at times he was lost, panicked, and hurried,” Cowherd said. “Pickett looked like a kid who needed help, and you can’t tell me it’s a lack of weapons for Pittsburgh, this roster for the Steelers is stacked.”
Either way, the Steelers absolutely are not going to be trading the farm to have the chance to draft someone who hasn't even played a single snap in the NFL yet.
