Cowboys Hall of Famer to Jerry Jones: Trade Dak Prescott!
The former Cowboy thinks they must move on from QB Dak Prescott.
The Dallas Cowboys are poised to enter the season with quarterback Dak Prescott in the final year of his current contract, and it doesn't appear as though there is any progress that's been made on a new deal.
While speculation continues to grow on whether or not Prescott will continue his career with the Cowboys beyond the upcoming 2024 season, one former member of the team is now asking general manager and team owner Jerry Jones to cut bait with Prescott while there's a chance to get something in return.
Charles Haley, a 5x Super Bowl winner during his Hall of Fame career that included three championships (Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII, XXX) with the Cowboys, believes that there's no going back now and that it's time to make a franchise-altering deal.
“He kept back-loading everything,” Haley said of Jones. “So now, he’s screwed. … His bill came due, and he doesn’t have the money to be able to (pay everyone). And so he’s going to have to find another way around the salary cap. … He gambled a long time, and now time is up.”
“Trade Dak, just put him up for the trade. Guess what? Every team in the league would be after him. Every team in the league. Dak is a winner. Dak is a great person, a great leader. I know him. I go up there all the time.”
Cowboys fans, should Dallas trade Prescott while they're still able to get something in return for him rather than lose him via free agency for nothing?
