Despite being on the verge of entering free agency, Dallas Cowboys veteran offensive tackle Tyron Smith apparently has no plans on leaving the Cowboys, or retiring.
According to The Dallas Morning News, Smith would like to return for another season with Dallas, despite having encountered numerous injury problems that have limited him to being able to appear in just 82 of the last 131 games.
According to Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, the 2023 season was the best campaign Smith enjoyed during his time on the job as coach.
“I think the biggest thing for Tyron is, talking about the path of the season and the training plan that was in place for him, this is clearly his best season that I have experienced with him since 2020,” McCarthy said last month at his season-ending news conference. “So, he felt good about that. I think the fact that he’s not going into the offseason with offseason surgeries is a plus. We’ll continue to talk as we move forward.”
The eight time Pro Bowler last earned the honor in 2021. At 33 years of age, Smith isn't getting any younger, but has proven that he can still be an asset. Should the Cowboys consider bringing him back with a new contract?
