Cowboys voice true thoughts on QB Trey Lance
He's the full-time backup to QB Dak Prescott.
The Dallas Cowboys acquired themselves a new quarterback behind Dak Prescott last season in Trey Lance, who was acquired from the rival San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a mid-round draft pick.
And while Lance didn't get any action in last season while serving as Prescott's backup, Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones expressed that he was pleased with how his offseason training has gone.
"He's done nothing but excite us even more as he's worked here all of last season and in the offseason, in terms of his work ethic, his skill level," Jones said (h/t Jon Machota of The Athletic). "We're very pleased."
"Obviously Trey is a really good athlete, and the most important thing is his arm," Jones continued while also saying his work ethic is similar to Prescott's.. "He's got a very live arm, very strong arm. He continues to improve with his footwork and his accuracy."
Right now, there's been no agreement between the Cowboys and Prescott regarding a contract extension, as he's entering the final year of his current deal. What are the chances that Lance could get in more work this season as a potential preview for a bigger role with the team?
