A Patriot has made a big sacrifice in order to stay with the team.
Wide receiver Danny Amendola has restructured his contract to remain with the New England Patriots, FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports.
"It's an honor to play for this franchise and with this group of guys. We have one goal - to win another championship and that's all we care about," Amendola said of the new deal.
The veteran was due to earn $5 million this season, and $6 million in 2017, figures that were untenable for the Patriots considering Amendola's level of production in recent seasons.
Under the terms of the new deal, Amendola will earn $7.35 million over the next two seasons with an additional $750,000 available in incentives.
In 14 games last season, Amendola caught 65 passes for 648 yards and three touchdowns.
