There is some unfortunate news to report out of the world of the NFL today.
Former safety William White, who played 11 seasons in the NFL after being drafted out of Ohio State, lost his battle with ALS and passed away at the age of 56.
White spent the first portion of his career playing with the Detroit Lions, later suiting up for the Kansas City Chiefs and then the Atlanta Falcons. He explained in 2018 that he had no regrets playing the physical game of football:
“It may have something to do with it, but hey, it don’t matter,” he said. “If I knew I would have got this, I would have still played the game, because I loved it, and smacking people in the mouth was fun to me.
“I’m not allowed to say that now,” White said with a laugh, “but hey, that’s why God made sure I was born in ‘66 instead of ‘86.”
