Former NFL linebacker Ryan Jones was shot and killed in Reno, Nevada, on Sunday night. Two other men were wounded but Jones was the only casualty.
According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Reno Police Department spokesman Officer Tim Broadway said he could not comment on the circumstances the led up to the shooting.
"We can't go into details yet because it's an ongoing investigation." He added that "several people" were still being interviewed.
Jones signed a free-agent deal with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2014, but was later released. He also spent some time with the New York Giants, the year after. He played his college football with Montana Tech, and was the first player from this university to sign an NFL contract.
After his football career, he also spent time training in mixed martial arts.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
