There is no bigger achievement in professional football than winning the Superbowl. But watching your team win the prestigious trophy can be a bit frustrating when you can't contribute. Former Patriots' OL Sebastian Vollmer can relate.
He was released by the Pats in March after missing the entire 2016 season because of injuries. He has to admit he was happy to see his team win it all in February, but that he would have liked to be a part of it. Here's what he said in an interview with NFL Network, earlier this week:
"It's a frustrating year. You work all year to get to the point where you want to play. As a player, obviously you always feel like you can help the team. [...] On a personal level, I was super happy for myself, my teammates, my friends and my family. On the other hand, I am bitter because I wanted to be on the field and help my team."
Vollmer also talked about Tom Brady. He said that he believes Brady could play until he's 50 and, of course, break the Madden Curse: "I mean, if you're the GOAT, you have to go. You got no choice. I mean, hey, the guy has done so many incredible things. If there is a guy to break the curse, it is definitely him."
Vollmer was drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft.
