The best quarterback currently on the market likely won't be unemployed for very long.
After meeting with the New York Jets on Tuesday and Wednesday, free-agent quarterback Brian Hoyer may be nearing a decision on his next employer. Hoyer is expected to have a new team "quickly," according to ESPN's Adam Caplan, who adds that there are four or five other teams interested in his services.
Caplan didn't indicate who those other teams are, but one source told Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram that the Dallas Cowboys could have interest in Hoyer "at the right price." At present, the Cowboys have two inexperienced players in Kellen Moore and Jameill Showers behind Tony Romo on the depth chart, and are unlikely to enter the season without making a move at the position.
The Denver Broncos are also in need of a quarterback despite acquiring Mark Sanchez from the Philadelphia Eagles during free-agency. They could also be one of the teams interested in his services. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Hoyer is on his way today to meet with the Broncos' brass.
The 30-year-old appeared in 11 games with the Houston Texans last season, completing 60.7 percent of his passes for 2,606 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
