Donte Whitner has finally made his decision on where he will sign this season.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the veteran safety has decided to sign with the Washington Redskins on a one-year deal on Wednesday. The former Cleveland Browns' veteran had visited the New York Giants last week, but elected to sign with one of their most hated rivals. He had also visited the Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers after being released by the Browns in April.
The three-time Pro Bowler comes in at the right time for a defensive secondary that has been hit with injuries. While he is known to be a hard-hitter and a good veteran presence, he is not great in pass coverage. The Redskins will likely use him to help defend the run, something the Skins' have been less than stellar at so far this season.
He will likely be seen as a potential starter over strong safety David Bruton, who is currently in concussion protocol and has been hideous against the run and pass this season.
