Dez Bryant is a charitable man, but sometimes charity can cost.
We're not even talking about the $16,000 he spent on free BBQ in his hometown of Lufkin, Texas hosting a charity kickball game for his hometown fans.
The last thing the Cowboys want is another one of their stars to be making offseason headlines for all the wrong reasons. Fortunately, this really doesn't look like it's going to turn into an issue for Bryant or the Cowboys.
Bryant spoke with NFL Network's Jane Slater and explained the situation.
The veteran pass catcher took full responsibility for his actions and admitted he should have contacted the team sooner in regards to his situation. Bryant is prepared to face the consequences of his actions and apparently feels especially bad about this after an otherwise quiet offseason.
On top of that, Bryant is battling a sinus infection but has team staff and doctors enlisted to help him recover as quickly as possible.
Compared to all the bad noise around Ezekiel Elliot right now, Bryant's tardiness is unfortunate but hardly something to worry about. All things considered, it's unlikely Bryant will face any repercussions for missing Friday's conditioning test.
On the up side, reportedly hundreds of children took part in Bryant's impromptu kickball cookout. He seems to be doing right by his grassroots fans at the very least.
