New England Patriots fans got a good scare on Sunday when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went down with an injury late in the second quarter of the team's game against the Miami Dolphins. After completing a pass, Garoppolo was knocked down by Kiko Alonso and fell hard on his throwing shoulder.
The third year quarterback, who was in his second career's start in absence of future hall of famer Tom Brady, wasn't able to comeback and his absence was felt in the second half.
At first, the injury was believed to be serious, but upon further examination, it turns out Garoppolo could miss only one game of action with a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder according to NFL.com.
Garoppolo was in the middle of a terrific performance before the injury, as he completed 18 of 27 passes for 234 yards with 3 touchdown passes.
In his absence, rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett finished the game and the Patriots still won. The rookie is expected to be the starter on Thursday against the Houston Texans.
