Big surprise today out of practice from the New England Patriots. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Pats haven't, and are not even planning to, work out a quarterback to back-up Jacoby Brissett on Thursday night against the Houston Texans.
According to Schefter, the Pats are still confident that Jimmy Garoppolo will be able to suit up and be the emergency back-up.
If that is not the case, expect wide receiver Julian Edelman, who played quarterback in college, to assume this role. We love Julian, but we prefer to see him lining up in the slot than under center.
Still a longshot, but Patriots have not given up hope yet that Jimmy Garoppolo can play Thursday, per team source. https://t.co/eOveFwaxAu— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) 19 septembre 2016
Brissett came in on Sunday when Garoppolo, who is already filling in for Tom Brady, went down with a shoulder injury. The Patriots are currently 2-0 despite the absence of the future hall of famer.
