Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones met with Pope Francis at the Vatican earlier today, along with his wife Gene, and Hall of Famers Chris Doleman, Franco Harris, Floyd Little, Ronnie Lott, Curtis Martin and Jim Taylor also made the trip with Jones.
Here are Mr. and Mrs. Jones' reactions after their visit with His Holiness:
"It's just a magical day. Pope Francis has blessed the entire NFL and the Hall of Fame, it's a great honor." Her husband added that it was a magnificent thing to have him recognize pro football. "When I think of the many, many millions of people that depend on our spiritual leader, it's a wonderful compliment, and so I appreciate the Hall of Fame for getting us this audience with the Pope. It makes us feel really special."
While we have no idea whether Jones discussed former Cowboy Roger Staubach's hail mary with the Holy Father, the Pro Football HOF released an official statement on Twitter about today's meeting:
