Jordan Love breaks silence on contract talks
Will a new contract get worked out in short order?
As the heir to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love has established himself as the starter for the Green Bay Packers, and also led them to an upset victory over the Dallas Cowboys in last year's NFL postseason.
However, he's going to need a new contract, as he's on the books with Green Bay through this season. But as he's been a participant in offseason team activities, he stated that he's focused on the immediate task at hand - getting ready for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
"That’s just something that I’ve always done, trying to be here, get the reps in, get the work in with the guys and just start building that chemistry and getting ready for the season," Love said.
"I don’t really know what’s going on, but we’ll see," Love told reporters. "But I’m not going to get into too much contract stuff."
According to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, the entire team benefits from their starting quarterback showing up to OTA's.
"We’ve had almost 100% the entire offseason, which has been the best that we’ve had since I’ve been here," LaFleur said. "And I always think when you look around the league, when your quarterback’s there, it just naturally has a way of attracting everybody to come."
Love also stated that he wants to correct his accuracy after throwing a pair of interceptions in their season-ending postseason loss to the eventual NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.
"It’s something that’s always with you," Love said. "But at the end of the day, that’s what you’ve got to do, is you’ve got to learn from it, be able to watch it, break it down, see what went wrong, learn from it and grow and move on."
