Josh Norman knows he's in tough against Antonio Brown this week, and he is not taking the matchup lightly.
The Washington Redskins' All-Pro cornerback will attempt to slow down the Pittsburgh Steelers' superstar wide receiver on Monday Night Football, an assignment he knows will be a big test.
Norman praised Brown and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger when speaking with the media this week. He remained confident in his abilities but showed the utmost respect toward one of the NFL's most dangerous duos.
“I’m not sure if it’s a matchup or not but I know I’m going to go out there and do the best I can because to guard a guy like that like I said you don’t start an offense without Antonio Brown,” Norman said. “Watching him and what he’s able to do is freakish. When you look at the receivers in the NFL you don’t have to stop nowhere other than Antonio Brown. It starts and ends with him. That’s going to be a tall task to take on, and I respect that. I’m looking forward to what he brings because that matchup is obviously going to be a physical one and a fun one. I have nothing but respect for that guy.”
The fifth-year pro had nothing but good things to say about Roethlisberger as well.
“Oh my gosh, Big Ben, another great one,” Norman said. “You look at the quarterbacks in this league, and Big Ben has been up there since he’s been in the league. He’s one of the great ones. I’ll walk up to him and be like, ‘Hey, can I get your jersey?’
This is shaping up to be one of the most exciting matchups to watch in Week 1 of the NFL season and Norman knows the spotlight will likely be on himself and Brown the entire night.
As Norman put it “It’s Monday night everyone and their grandma are going to be watching.”
