Julian Edelman got his chance to absolutely roast NFL legend Peyton Manning at the ESPY awards Wednesday night, and he didn't pass it up.
While on stage to accept the award for "Best Game," the Patriots slot receiver made sure to take a not-so-subtle jab at the evening's host, Manning.
"I never really thought I'd say this, but Peyton Manning's kinda killing it. Yeah, we are indoors, though."
Now that was a zinger.
Over his illustrious 18-year career with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, Manning was constantly a thorn in the side of his AFC rival Patriots.
However, Patriots fans will be quick to remind of a pair of playoff games in Foxborough following the 2003 and 2004 seasons, where Manning played poorly in the cold of Massachusetts.
The Patriots shut Manning down, limiting the star to a combined one touchdown and five interceptions in those games. New England went on to win their second and third Super Bowl titles of the Brady-Belichick era.
Broncos fans, however, will be quick to remind that Manning's outdoor play improved once he landed in Denver.
