JUST IN: Aaron Donald just made NFL history with new deal
Okay, that made his decision a bit easier.
With eight Pro Bowls, seven All-Pros, all-decade honors for the 2010s and 98 career sacks, a Super Bowl ring appeared to have been the crowning achievement in the career of Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald, who teased a potential retirement prior to this year's Big Game against Cincinnati in February at SoFi Stadium.
And of course, during the team championship parade, it sounded as though he could indeed make a return to the field in 2022.
“We built a super team," he exclaimed. "We’re gonna bring a super team back! Why not run it back? We can be world champions again!"
That decision has officially been made. The Rams have reworked his deal to make Donald the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history; he'll be earning $40 million at just 31 years of age.
Per Ian Rapoport, Donald's deal will see him get paid $65 million over the next two seasons and $95 million through the 2024 season.
