Justin Fields sounds off on competition with Russell Wilson
It's going to be a battle for the starting role!
After completed renovating their quarterback situation with the additions of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields along with new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be looking quite different heading into the 2024 NFL season on the offensive side of the ball.
And while Wilson appears to be the starter for Pittsburgh on paper, Fields wants to let everyone know that he's going to be competing for his playing time.
“I’m definitely competing,” Fields explained. “Russ knows that. We compete against each other every day. We’re pushing each other.
“I definitely don’t have the mindset of sitting all year. I come in here every day and give it all I got. I’m pushing him to be his best, and he’s pushing me to be my best every day.”
Despite going 10-28 as a starter with the Chicago Bears, Fields is always aiming for improvement.
“I’m not the same quarterback I was last year; I’m not the same quarterback I was yesterday,” Fields said. “I’m going to continue to get better each and every day. I think I have a lot of room to grow.”
Just how far can Fields realistically push Wilson for the starter's role?
