After news hit that embattled Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson will sell the team, pop culture icon P. Diddy went on Twitter to say he wants to buy the team. Now both Colin Kaepernick and NBA star Stephen Curry are joining in the chorus.

Actually, it might not be as simple as that. Newsweek argued that "Diddy will almost certainly struggle to afford the Panthers on his own. Forbes valued the franchise at $2.3 billion in September but Forbes values Diddy at only $820 million. And as the New York Daily News pointed out Monday, “Sports teams also typically sell for significantly more money than their reported value.”
