With eight Pro Bowls, seven All-Pros, all-decade honors for the 2010s and 98 career sacks, a Super Bowl ring appeared to have been the crowning achievement in the career of Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald, who teased a potential retirement prior to this year's Big Game against Cincinnati in February at SoFi Stadium.
However, he won't be hanging up his cleats any time soon. The Rams have reworked his deal to make Donald the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history; he'll be earning $40 million at just 31 years of age.
Meanwhile, Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury did his best to try and convince Donald to retire while they were both attending head coach Sean McVay's wedding.
“I did my best to try and convince Aaron Donald to retire. Obviously, that didn’t work,” said Kingsbury. “I told him he’s accomplished all he can accomplish and it’s a great idea to go out on your own terms.”
Hey, at least he tried!
