Legendary Mississippi State University on Head Football Coach Mike Leach suffered a heart attack on Sunday, and is currently listed as in critical condition.
The university has released the following statement:
"Mississippi State University Head Football Coach Mike Leach had a personal health issue at his home earlier today (Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022). That issue led to a decision to transfer Coach Leach to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson by ambulance. That is the extent of information that MSU has available regarding Coach Leach's condition, and the university will make no other comment at this time other than to say that the thoughts and prayers of the university are with Mike and Sharon and their family."
According to several sources, Leach had collapsed at his home and it was at least 10-15 minutes before he received urgently needed medical care. EMTS used a defibrillator machine and delivered multiple shocks to resume his heartbeat to a normal rhythm. There are also additional fears that he may have suffered seizures with the possibility of brain damage.
Known for his "air-raid" style offense, Leach's coaching career has included stops at MSU, Texas Tech and Washington State. His overall record as a head coach is 158-107.
