The Detroit Lions are reporting that Taylor Decker is out for at least 4 months with a torn labrum. Decker underwent surgery this past week. He will be very unlikely to start the season but could make his return at some point in 2017.
Decker had a very good rookie year graded out to a 9.7 according to Pro Football Focus, good enough to rank 21st overall in the league at the tackle position. The Lions were otherwise pretty bad at the offensive line last year with multiple starters ranking very low at their position. Corey Robinson might be the obvious replacement at left tackle after making appearances at both tackle spots last year but he certainly is not up to the caliber of Decker.
Luckily, the Lions signed Ricky Wagner earlier in the off season. Wagner played right tackle in Baltimore last year and was solid but might have to make his way to the left side to replace the injured Decker.
