Mike Tomlin hits at “catastrophic” Steelers penalties

The good news for the Pittsburgh Steelers is that they were able to earn their 5th win of the season on Thursday night by defeating the visiting Tennessee Titans at Acrisure Stadium by a 20-16 final score. The win moves them two games above the .500 mark at 5-3 through the first eight games of the schedule.
However, one key thing that was hurting the Steelers on Thursday night was the amount of penalties that they were whistled for. By the end of the contest, the host Steelers had been whistled 10 times for a total of 80 yards, and head coach Mike Tomlin knows that's something that must be cleaned up.
"I'm really excited about the win," said Tomlin afterward. "First and foremost, from a penalty perspective, part of being a tough team to beat is not kicking your own butt, and we kind of have been doing that some, and we have to own that. So, we will."
Tomlin also stated that the team plans on bringing some officials into practice in order to try and mitigate their infractions for their next game.
"We'll review it. We'll learn from it. We'll look at it. We'll bring some officials into our practice setting in an effort to be cleaner because that was catastrophic really in a lot of instance to our effort tonight.
"But I'm appreciative of the fight. We needed this one, and it's good to get it, get it on a short week, and being in the clubhouse on a Thursday night with the necessary victory for the week."
Tomlin then expressed excitement for his players and was appreciative of the break they're getting in between games.
"Excited for them. We'll rest up, man, take advantage of the long weekend, and begin our next process," Tomlin said.
The Steelers are off until next Sunday when they host the Green Bay Packers at Acrisure Stadium.
