The Patriots probably don't have to worry about one of their star players leaving anytime soon.
Julian Edelman just signed a new long term extension with New England that will prevent him from becoming a free agent at the end of next season. It's good news for quarterback Tom Brady who completed 98 passes to Edelman in 2016.
Edelman's dad was also pleased about the contract.
Speaking with ESPN.com, the elder Edelman said, "“Boston loves their athletes, and if you’re in, you’re in. Boston is also all about what Julian is; you just go to work and grind it out. He loves Boston and everything about the Patriots. There are also a lot of off-field opportunities if you stay in Boston. We’d love to be a Patriot for life.”
