New England Patriots star pass-catcher Julian Edelman revealed some odd secrets about his diet and eating habits.
ESPN recently interviewed the 31-year-old after he went naked for a photo shoot in ESPN's Body Issue. An interviewer asked Edelman if he's "always that fit all the time, or do you put in extra training knowing you have this big photo shoot?"
The modest Edelman answered, "I'm pretty fit most of the time like that. Of course maybe a week before you're going to stop eating and dehydrate yourself."
An answer like that wouldn't be so odd coming from a boxer or a UFC professional preparing for a fight, but a pro football player preparing to have his photo taken?
One infamous photo in the magazine showed Edelman appearing to munch on a giant, delicious-looking hamburger. ESPN asked him what his preferred "cheat day" meal is.
"Burger," he said emphatically. "I like whatever the chef prepares. So if you're going to go to a place like that I want to see what his little piece of art is going to be like. What topings. What sauce. What kind of bun. What type of meat. All those things: it's simply an art."
Edelman said all of this with a completely straight face, mind you.
The Kent State product has now caught 425 career passes for 4,540 yards and 24 scores over eight seasons in New England.
Earlier this month the team rewarded Edelman with a two-year contract extension worth $11 million. Previously he had signed a four-year, $17 million deal in 2014.
He's won two Super Bowls with the team.
