One of the greatest player versus player rivalries the NFL has ever seen has come to an end today.
With the the news that Denver Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning will announce his retirement on Monday, an outpouring of well wishes from around the football universe we heard for him.
One a heartfelt message to a long-time adversary stood above the rest, as New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady paid Manning the respect he rightfully deserves.
Brady posted a picture of himself and Manning meeting after a game, with this caption:
Congratulations Peyton, on an incredible career. You changed the game forever and made everyone around you better. It's been an honor.
The rivalry between these two has been nothing short of Legendary. The two future Hall of Fame signal-callers combined for six Super Bowl titles since 2001. It seemed as though a playoff meeting between Brady and Manning was a yearly occurrence, and always made for a back-and-forth battle.
Never again will we see two leaders with a rivalry such as this. It's intensity was only matched by the mutual respect that the two men have for each other.
This is truly the end of an era in NFL history.
