Adrian Peterson thinks he can play until he’s 38. At a recent charity event in New Orleans, Peterson was asked how long he thinks he can still play for. “37,38” was his answer. Peterson is already 32 and most running backs don’t even last that long nevermind playing until they’re closing in on 40.
Still, there hasn’t really ever been a running back like Adrian Peterson. A freakish athlete his whole life, Peterson probably could have skipped college and been a productive NFL player at age 18. Instead, he obliterated the Big 12 in 3 years at the University of Oklahoma. His freshman season could be considered the greatest freshman season of all time when he ran for 1,925 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.
His career in the NFL has been no different. In 2012 he rushed for over 2000 yards and after turning 30, in 2015, rushed for 1,485 yards. Unfortunately, injuries may play a factor in how long Peterson can continue playing. He’s missed significant time with knee major knee injuries throughout his career.
