The New York Giants will be down a man when they take on division rivals the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener.
According to a report from the Giant's official website, kicker Josh Brown has received a one-game suspension from the National Football League for a violation of the league's personal conduct policy. While the actual violation for the incident was not disclosed, we do knwo that Brown fought the suspension for as long as he could, and only begrudgingly accepts his suspension.
Brown released the following official statement:
While I do not agree with the suspension, I will accept it. I have exhausted the appeals process and have no other options along those lines. I will continue to work hard for this team, and I have tremendous confidence in my teammates and in my ability to move on and contribute to the team.
Brown also appears to have the support of the Giants who released their own statement via head coach Ben McAdoo.
We have been supportive of Josh and will continue to be, but we accept the league’s decision.
