The Pittsburgh Steelers are keeping a positive outlook but there was no mistaking the possibility that Bud Dupree could miss the entire 2016 season should things not go the team's way.
While the team is hoping that Dupree will be able to heal on his own from the sports hernia he suffered, there is now the very real possibility that he will require surgery, and that could rule him out for the entire campaign. Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed surgery was a possibility this week all while trying to stay focused on the bright side.
“He’s capable of being designated to return,” Tomlin said as per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Sometimes [these injuries] get better with time and sometimes they require surgical repair. We just want to get him healthy and hopefully back in uniform in 2016.”
There won't be any way to tell for certain until Dupree is re-evaluated by medical staff, something the team expects will take place in the next couple of days.
