Report: Steelers could welcome back franchise legend
Could he make a triumphant return?
The Football Feed
Pittsburgh Steelers fans, how would you like to see the return of Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward?
In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Ward was fired from his role in the XFL as coach of the San Antonio Brahmas late last month:
And it wouldn't be long before his name was floated as a possibility to replace Steelers wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson, who had worked with the team for the last two years.
According to Joe Clark of Steelers Depot, Ward will "surely be linked" to the Steelers:
“One name on the market that will surely be linked to Pittsburgh is former Steelers wideout Hines Ward, who was replaced as head coach of the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas and was an offensive intern with the Steelers in 2017,” Clark wrote. “He also served as an offensive assistant for the New York Jets and wide receivers coach at FAU.”
Additionally, Rob Gregson of AtoZ Sports floated Ward's name as a possibility:
“The Steelers are moving on from current WRs coach Frisman Jackson per Gerry Dulac,” Gregson wrote. “Hines Ward will be a popular candidate for his replacement.”
It certainly would be an intriguing option to see Ward make a return to Pittsburgh, where he remains beloved by fans.
