Rob Gronkowski didn't spend his $70 million in earned NFL salary
Well, this is an interesting report.
Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement from the National Football League earlier this week after four career Super Bowl wins and over $70 million made in salary.
However, he reportedly never once touched his NFL salary, instead choosing to live off of his multiple endorsement deals, and even continuing to wear his favorite pair of jeans dating back from his high school days.
In his book It's Good to be Gronk, released in 2015, Gronkowski explained that he never spent the millions that he made over the course of his 11 years in the NFL, saying he lived off “marketing money” and that he was not focused on buying “expensive cars” or “expensive jewelry or tattoos”.
And while he said this week that his playing days were over, Gronkowski's agent raised a few eyebrows by hinting that his client could make a potential return to action some time in 2022.
"It would not surprise me if Tom Brady calls him during the season to come back and Rob answers the call," Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter. "This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season."
