With the sudden and unexpected firing of the Carolina Panthers' general manager Dave Gettleman today, it's been suggested that a valuable Seahawks exec could be on the short list of replacement candidates.
As one of the Co-Director of Player Personnel, Trent Kirchner has been a suggested candidate for a few GM vacancies over the years. This time it looks like it could be a particularly good fit for Kirchner however.
He has ties to Carolina, where he served as the organizations pro scout from 2002 to 2010 before joining Seattle.
In the past, Kirchner's name surfaced most recently as a potential candidate to fill the GM vacancies with the 49ers and Colts, although both teams decided to go with other options.
While it may seem like the Panthers should be in a rush to find a new GM, that may not necessarily be the case:
Hopefully, the Seahawks can hold onto Kirchner, although Kirchner might not be to quick to turn down any offer the Panthers may decide to make.
