The Patriots got some encouraging news regarding one of their crucial players today.
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman recently underwent surgery on his left foot, but is expected to recover in time for training camp, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Mike Reiss.
The surgery was a "cleanup procedure," notes Schefter.
It's the second procedure Edelman's had on the foot. After breaking it in Week 10, an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the regular season, Edelman had a screw placed in the bone of his foot, and was able to start practicing again less than a month later - albeit in a limited capacity.
The 29-year-old returned for the playoffs, catching 17 passes for 153 yards in the Patriots' two postseason games.
