Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been a mainstay with the team for years now, and despite having missed the playoffs last year, he’s never gone through a losing season with Pittsburgh.
He also happens to be in the final year of his contract - just how much is it weighing on his mind? According to the man himself, really not all that much.
”I haven’t thought about it,” Tomlin said Wednesday, via transcripts from the team. “I’m just in a stage in my career where I don’t care about contracts, to be honest with you. I acknowledge that I’ve seen more days than I’m going to see, you know? That’s just the nature of this thing.”
“I appreciate the opportunity, he continued. “I’m singularly focused. I’m thankful that I’m in a stage in life and in my career that that’s a non-issue for me.”
Despite not having won a playoff game since 2016, Tomlin has led the Steelers to ten postseason appearances with a Super Bowl win.
His 163 career coaching wins rank third among active coaches.
