Steelers could acquire top Jets receiver
They've been named a top potential landing spot for him.
While the Pittsburgh Steelers have completely revamped their quarterback department in the last several months, they're still on the lookout for offensive reinforcements. And right now, they've been listed as an ideal candidate to land the services of New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard if New York decides to deal him.
According to Cody Woodroof of USA Today Sports, the Steelers are a team to watch when it comes to the potential acquisition of Lazard:
"The New York Jets feel like a team that could make an aggressive trade to add talent this summer to help maximize the remainder of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ career. With only about $6 million in cap space, that might make a player like Lazard expendable in what will be a crucial season for the Jets," Woodroof writes.
"While he joined Rodgers in the 2023 offseason, he’s probably not going to start for the franchise this fall. Trading Lazard for a late-round pick would net New York $10 million in cap space, which could easily go to good use to add talent elsewhere on the roster."
After playing college footage at Iowa State, he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He would later spend the next portion of his career with the Green Bay Packers before signing a four year, $44 million deal with the Jets prior to last season.
So far in his career, he's racked up 192 receptions for a total of 2,547 yards and 21 touchdowns.
