While you'll get a varied reaction from Pittsburgh Steelers fans as to the overall performance of general manager Omar Khan, a pair of insiders have declared their thought that he made a key mistake during last offseason in not bringing back one particular player.
According to The Athletic's Mark Kaboly and Mike DeFabo, the Steelers made a mistake in not bringing back Terrell Edmunds, whom they took in the first round (28th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft and declined to re-sign; he inked with the Philadelphia Eagles before being dealt to the Tennessee Titans.
They wrote:
"Fitzpatrick’s hamstring and knee injuries not only limited his time on the field, but prevented him from being the playmaker that he’s been since he got to Pittsburgh. In hindsight, the Steelers probably made a mistake by not re-signing Terrell Edmunds."
Of course, the Steelers had to deal with injuries to Minkah Fitzpatrick along with the suspension of Damontae Kazee during the season that hampered their success, and the presence of Edmunds could have helped to alleviate some of those setbacks.
Khan will almost certainly be active in free agency this offseason.
