Steelers sign former Cowboys QB for workout

Can he secure a spot on the roster?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to open Training Camp, were Russell Wilson and Justin Fields will both compete with one another for the starting quarterback position.

However, having additional depth at the most important position in the game is never a bad thing. To that end, the Steelers have brought in former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci for a workout.

DiNucci was originally taken by the Dallas Cowboys in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft after having previously played collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh. His only start with Dallas took place in October of 2020, and he completed 21-of-40 passes for 180 yards while also losing a pair of fumbles and taking four sacks.

Later suiting up for the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL, he earned a 7-3 record and led the team to a postseason berth. He returned to the NFL by signing a tryout agreement with the Denver Broncos, and was waived this past May.
