Stephen A. Smith brutalizes Vikings QB Kirk Cousins after loss to Lions
The heavily-opinionated analyst didn't hold back!
Absolutely nothing had gone right for the Detroit Lions this season, as they came into this afternoon's divisional matchup at Ford Field against the Minnesota Vikings riding a 15 game winless skid that dated back exactly 364 days.
And the misery appeared on the verge of continuing as Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins connected with Justin Jefferson in the end zone to re-take the lead over the Lions with under two minutes remaining in regulation.
However, the Lions were able to finally snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Maligned first-year Lions quarterback Jared Goff found Aman Ra-St. Brown in the end zone as time expired after leading his team down the field, walking it off for the home team and finally giving Detroit that elusive 1st victory of the season. They're now 1-10-1 on the season, while the Vikings dropped to 5-7.
ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith was quick to call out the Vikings on social media afterwards - and QB Kirk Cousins in particular. Take a look at what he wrote on Twitter, and try imagining it in his voice:
"The Vikings. Good lord! They give up the game-winning TD as time expires to the then-winless Lions. I know Cousins doesn’t play defense, but I’m just not surprised that HiS team would lose a game like this! Who’s their leader? Don’t expect Zimmer here after this season."
The former Michigan State Spartans quarterback simply said that he and his teammates have to move on following the bitter defeat.
“It’s a difficult loss,” Cousins said. “It’s a tale of two halves, dug ourselves a hole early. We fought back in the second half, we moved the ball well, but obviously it wasn’t enough.”
The Lions will move on to face the Broncos in Denver next week, while the Vikings prepare to host the Pittsburgh Steelers this Thursday.
