Dallas Cowboys rookie cornerback Chidobe Awuzie has a fan in Cowboys VP Stephen Jones.

Per the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys' executive vice president recently joined 105.3 FM The Fan's "Ben & Skin Show" to about the Cowboys after their win over the Redskins.

"Well I think his whole issue has been injury. It's been very difficult to get him out there. It's no fault of his own. We've certainly pushed to get him out there, but that hamstring's nagged on him all through camp and then obviously all season long. Every time we think we're about there we get him out there and then he has a reoccurrence. So to see him go out there and given the opportunity to play a lot and him answer the bell and make plays, that's why you take a guy in the second round. You expect second round picks to step up pretty quickly and make an impact, and last night he certainly did that. You see what he can be all about, and the bigger thing is he hadn't played that much.
"I think it's only going to get better for him. As I said, you take a look at that secondary at times last night we had three rookie defensive backs along with Kavon and you throw in Jaylon and you throw in Taco, that's a good young group of picks over the last two years that we think can certainly make a big difference for us going forward. You throw [Anthony] Brown in that mix as well. You get, which I think this is a good learning experience for him. But it was good to see him make a tackle and make a pick. We got to get his confidence back because I think he's going to be a real good player for us long term. He's just through a little bit of a slump here that he's got to get out of."

The second-round draft pick has made nine tackles this season.
